Week 10 Lecture... Video Game Studies

PC, CONSOLE, ONLINE, ARCADE, and MOBILE

are all different types of VIDEO games.

Did you know that a study conducted in 2005 found that 41% of females aged between 25- 40 years addmitted to playing video games, and 59% of men in the same age group?

...I recon thats pritty close stats if you ask me...

and the incidence of females playing video games is INCREASING.

20 - 40 year olds dominate PC and CONSOLE gaming.

The WII is a totally new revolution to gaming... with its up and downs...

THere is 3 reasons to why people muck around with kind of crap:

1. social science approach...

* efects of the game on people?

Does playing a violent game make a person violent?

or... do people play the games because it is fun to blow things up but they know that cant do it in real life? who knows its all just crap anyway

2. Humanities approach

* some geeks study the meaning of each game.

they enjoy playing the game because they like the story line, or the reason for doing what they have have to do?

3. Industry and engineering approach

* Technology enthusiasts enjoy watching the development of games, and the new technology that can be invented. for example the wii v's playstation 3

Im not interested in the video game industry... i think it is a waste of time and money

However... this is something that needs more attention and money...

Most children are infection during pregnancy, delivery and breast feeding. Less than 10% of children receive treatment.
